1. Learn the Basics
Familiarize yourself with your Audio Guestbook
Messages are stored in the phone's memory card
To access messages, or set-up a custom greeting, you will need to access the MicroSD card using the provided USB cable:
- Plug the phone into your Windows or Apple* computer using the phone's USB connection
- Open File Explorer on your computer and find your Audio Guestbook phone: it will be called "Teensy". Double click on "Teensy."
- The "Teensy" contains one file called "theVOICEguestbook.com". Double click to open it.
*If using an Apple computer, download OpenMTP (free, open-source software) to continue.
3 Types of Files
Your audio guestbook contains 3 types of files:
- "Greeting" is the recorded greeting in .wav format
- Files numbered "0000", "0001", "0002", etc. are the recorded messages in .wav format. If you have not used your Audio Guestbook before, there will be no numbered files yet.
- Ignore the file named "mtpindex." NEVER DELETE THIS FILE.

2. Record a Greeting
There's 2 ways to do this:
Method 1: Record directly on the Audio Guestbook
- Delete the "Greeting" file. See Learn the Basics to find the "Greeting" file.
- Unplug the phone from your computer and plug it into a wall outlet or battery storage.
- Wait 10 seconds. Pick up the phone and record your greeting:
- when you pick up the phone, you will hear 4 tones (indicating no greeting)
- after the 4 tones, record your greeting and hang up to save
- when you plug the phone back into your computer, notice the new "greeting" file - Re-do as many times as you like until you are satisfied with your greeting
Method 2: Record on your own phone and upload to the Audio Guestbook
Record a greeting using any voice app and upload to the phone. If you are renting the guestbooks, clients can record their greetings remotely using their own phones and send it to you. You'll upload it onto the audio guestbook so it's ready to go when they receive it!
3. Set up at your Event
All our phones comes with a standard USB connection. At your event, (1) use a USB wall adapter (not included) and plug into an outlet or (2) plug it into a power bank. Wait 10 seconds and it's ready to go!
Pro Tips
- Set up your Audio Guestbook in a high-traffic area, on a flat, stable surface.
- Keep your Audio Guestbook away from speakers. The microphone is noise-cancelling, but some background music is expected!
- If your event has an MC, ask them to make an annoucement about the Audio Guestbook so guests know where to find it.
Don't forget instructional signage for your guests!
There are plenty of free and paid Audio Guestbook printable signage templates available online. You can even make your own. The instructions should include these easy steps:
1. Pick up the phone
2. Leave a message after the tone.
3. Hang up.
4. Party on!
4. Access your Messages
...and prepare your Audio Guestbook for the next event.
Access your Messages
- After your event, move all numbered files (ex. "0000", "0001", "0002", etc.) onto your computer (ex. on your desktop or in a file folder). See Learn the Basics to find the numbered files.
- Access the files directly from your computer's hard drive. DO NOT attempt to play the recordings until they have been moved onto your computer's hard drive.
Want to use it for another event?
- Delete all the numbered files (ex. "0000", "0001", "0002", etc.) and/or "greeting" file from the Audio guestbook. See Learn the Basics to find the numbered files (ex. "0000", "0001", "0002", etc.) and "greeting" file.
- DO NOT delete the "mtpindex" file.
- Don't forget to set up a new greeting!
